DESCRIPTION Befehlspanzer 35R 731(f)
Of the 200 R35 chassis converted by the firm Alkett in 1941, 26 units were specifically modified into command vehicles (*Befehlspanzer* or *FuWw*—*Funkwagen*).
To fulfill this role as a mobile command post on the battlefield, several major modifications distinguished them from the standard anti-tank version:
• No main gun: The powerful 4.7 cm PaK(t) Czechoslovak-made gun was entirely omitted to free up space inside the armored casemate.
• Defensive armament: In place of the main gun, a simple 7.92 mm MG 34 machine gun was mounted in a ball socket on the front plate to provide close-range defense for the vehicle.
• Heavy radio equipment: The fixed casemate housed long-range radio sets (typically FuG 5 and FuG 8 units), which were essential for coordinating the movements of *Panzerjäger* (anti-tank) sections.
These 26 armored vehicles were assigned to company and battalion commanders within the *Panzerjäger-Abteilungen* (anti-tank units) that were equipped with *Panzerjäger 35R*s.
Armament :
• 1 MG 34 , 7,92 mm
