The SU-85 was a Soviet assault gun developed during World War II. It was based on the chassis of the T-34 tank and was designed to provide fire support for infantry and to engage enemy armor. The SU-85 was armed with a powerful 85 mm cannon that could penetrate the armor of most German tanks at the time. It had a crew of four and was protected by armor that was up to 75 mm thick in some areas. The SU-85 saw action on the Eastern Front during World War II, where it proved to be an effective weapon against German tanks.
