Counlane M3A1 Lee Mid (USA, WW2)

This is the molded-hull version of the M3, the M3A1. Riveted-hull tanks pose problems in combat. Enemy rounds can cause the outer portion of the rivet to be sheared off, allowing the remainder of the rivet to become a lethal projectile inside the vehicle. For these reasons, Ordnance was very interested in cast armor construction.

American Locomotive began production of the M3A1 in February 1942. the M3A1 was produced in only 300 units.

Differences from the early version, engine exhaust system, 37mm gun in turret with stabilizer, M2 gun with counterweight.
